I have BOSE 'Acoustimass AM-5' cube speakers but no 'Module.?

Can I make use of these 'CUBE'speakers without Acoustimass "MODULE" and if yes HOW ?

  1. Absolutely, you will still need an amp of some kind though. Then just plug the individual speakers into the R&L front, R&L surround and the center channel ports. I have a pair of Bose AM6 cubes as my surrounds and they work lovely. You will need to buy a sub-woofer though, cause the cubes have zero bass to them.


  2. Unfortunately it will greatly depend on the receiver you have. For space reasons the cube speakers do not have a crossover, so unlike regular speakers you can not send a full range signal to them unless you want them to overheat and blow.

    Your receiver must be able to do down mixing for base as well and any audio applications (not theater) will not sound good, since you are unlikely to find a receiver that can expand the LFE frequencies, since Mids are reproduced by the AM module.

    To really balance the system with the correct frequency response you will need the individual responses for each device, Bose refuses to publish this data.

    Case in point why Bose is so proprietary and can not be used well with other equipment.
