  1. imagine a gill slit is a page in a book now if u open a book up slightly u see the individual pages, now just as the air is between each page of that book so is it between each gill.

    gills have a large surface area because it is the shape of what i described above... also there are tiny blood vessels on the entire surface.

    conter flow: the water runs over the gills, then it absorbes o2

    when the water is flowing back over the gills to the outside agian it absorbes the remaining o2, thus gaining more oxygen

    the third is because they have better developed lungs :)

    internat fert is nb for them, they have evolved it for a reason (natural selection favoured this ability, same with scales.)

    both are protection, scales from penetartion of teeth both predators but also same species, it also helps with absorbing the sun,

    fert, because free floating eggs and sperm only really have a 1% fer rate and needs millions of eggs and much more spem, to make a few thousand, then only a couple of those will survive if lucky
