I have Bright House cable with Win XP & Mozilla Firefox is it necessary to have Symantec Antivirus?

I am little confused,why I should have so many security tools,interacting with one another.

Then type in spywareblaster (in google) and find [mg] spywareblaster 4.1 click the anti spyware tab and download ad aware 2008.  all these will keep your computer protected and none will counter react
