I have been playing this game a long time, and I am prestige 10. Hopefully my advice can help you.

First of all you need to equip yourself with some very good weapons. The ones I use are :

- M16 [ Red Dot Scope - Stopping Power - Bandolier - Steady Aim]

- M4 [ Red Dot Scope - Stopping Power - Bandolier -  Steady Aim]

- P90 [ No Attachment - Stopping Power - Bandolier - Steady Aim ]

Get good with these weapons and you will dominate. Try to flank around enemy positions on the map a lot and you will accumulate a great number of kills.

As a final tip, play a lot of ground war games. More people means you have more opportunities to kill enemies.
