  1. never give up hope,

    soon probably (:

  2. my guess is ten years

  3. muziklov...   !

Actually it depends on our own mental level that is what we mean by this simple word CURE. Diabetes actually has many genetic and environmental causes behind it and therefore it has many ways of treating. Most of the research in the previous few years was for the prevention of diabetes and its management if it occurs. These researches are obviously very important unless and until the cure for diabetes becomes available. The final cure for this disease would be a replacement for the cells of the pancreas as it is caused by the malfunctioning of these cells that makes insulin. To do this an insulin pump would have to be inserted which would be regulated automatically by the glucose sensors. This pump has been invented and tested in about 500 people in different areas of world. But Glucose sensors are not yet developed but will be very soon.

  4. i am 16  i was diagnosed a little over 6 yrs ago then they said about 10 years for a cure but they are getting closer every day so donate what you can for research and hope and pray every day that they will find one tomorrow!!

  5. 2060

  6. I'm 24, i've had type 1 diabetes for 11 years, i wish there was a cure now but i don't think there will be for at least 15 yrs or so, i would just like a better way to treat diabetes

  7. my sister has type 1 also.

    shes nine.

im sure there will be one.

    -dont give up <3

  8. Keep your chin up they are getting closer everyday!  :)

  9. Just hang in there gurl.

i have never had it or anything

but i promise you that you have my hope[:

and listen to nick jonas song A LiTTLE BiT LONGER =]

  10. The most promising research is Denise Faustman's here:

    http://www.faustmanlab.org/

She has succeeded in curing mice and is currently testing her treatment on humans like Allie Beatty:

    http://www.alliesvoice.com/

I would strongly urge you to support Faustman's research and subscribe to allie's voice to stay up to date. The JDRF denied giving funds to this most promising research. Reason? Unknown. Lee Iacocca stepped in and helped, but Faustman needs lots more help. Check it out.

  11. This is it.

These pranayam exercises will help control the diabetes and the side effects.Build up the timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume later(after about a minute). The benefits will be noticed in weeks as the sugar level is checked daily.Over the long term the diabetes will be in full control and the medicine can be reduced in consultation with the doctor.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 15 to 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day)

Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.

Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

    Anulom Vilom –

Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril

then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril

then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril

then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.

This is one cycle of anulom vilom.

Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30 minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).

Children under 15 years -  do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.

You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Also everyday, press the centre point of the palm of both your  hands 40 times with the thumb and press the tips of all fingers 40 times each.

Also do this: kneel down, breathe out, pull in stomach, keep your both hands on stomach, bend forward and try to touch the floor with your forehead.Do this 3 times to stimulate the kidney and pancreas.

Continue the exercises once a day, after the diabetes is in full control.

  12. There are currently no known cures, but it is a manageable problem. Check with an Endocrinologist...I wish you well.

  13. There is always hope. I read a while back that they found a way to cure it in rats. Stem cell research may help that, but no one in the government will give it substantial backing.

  14. I used to work for a company that was doing research on diabetic cure.  THEY thought they would have a cure in "10 years".  I worked for them 10 years ago -- and there is STILL no cure today.

The problem is that we don't know what the CAUSE is.  You're a kid -- so what caused you pancrea to "give up"?  The best scientists in the world don't know!

The biggest "hope" right now is Stem Cell research. but that is very slow going because scientists don't fully understand stem cells yet.  It is very hard to get the stem cells to do what they want them to do!

So, the best guess right now is MAYBE 20-30 years before they have a "cure".

    But you have other options.

First, you can just plain learn to take care of yourself.  This is the best, easiest, and cheapest option.  Do EXACLTY what your doctor says.  Follow your diet, take your medications, and visit your doctor as often as he says. If you do this exactly, you will live as long and as happy as any body else.

There is such a thing as an Insulin Pump.  The problem with it, though, is that you have to be VERy mature, and have a great deal of self-disicipline to use it. It requires you to take "finger stick" blood tests as much as 10 times  day, while you are awake.

But scientists are working on a new "pump" that puts the measuring device right under your skin on you belly.  Wires come out of your skin and go to a little computer that you wear on your belt.  This computer measure your blood suagr and tells a pump to give you insulin.

But right now they don't have the "little computer on your belt" part done. Today, it take a full-sized laptop computer!  But they think that they will have this done and ready to sell in 7-10 years.

One last option is very very serious.  The doctor might recommend that you have a pancreas transplant.  They do this ONLY if you are very very sick (almost dead), because it is dangerous.  ONLY the doctor can decide if you are sick enough to have this operation.

  15. i would say in the next 30 years, with the way research is going then fda approval will take a while. they are looking into gene therapy and stem cell treatments.

  16. just pray for it and i;m pretty sure they'll find one in a few years

    hope u get better :)

  17. They're working on stem cell treatments right now. Probably 15-20 years or so.

  18. I'm sure you'd love to hear soon...but it wont be. The fundraisers don't even give them half the money they claim too and being diabetic is a money pit for insurance agents..they get to charge you an arm and a leg for this unfortunate disease.

My mother has been diabetic for 49 years..she was diagnosed with type one when she was 2 years old. If you need any tips to help you live with it better I can help..being raised by a diabetic mom I know a lot about it. However instead of focusing on it being cured...focusing on living a healthy life as long as you can.

    Good luck..

  19. not for a wile but I'd say the odds are you won't die with diabetes.

  20. I have had type 1 diabetes for 15 years out of 17 years of my life, I was told, or my parents were told when i was 2 that bu the time i was 15-20 there would be one and there is not now,i plan to go into Clinical Immunology and either cure or learn how to prevent type 1 diabetes, although this sounds " absurd". but im only 17 and have proposed 2 cures for type 1 diabetes to Johns Hopkins Online Medical Board, they were reviewed and letter deemed plausible but not probable, they were to risky, i come from a long line of scientist, including the famous Heron Singer, my grandfather, so although there is not one now, hopefully there will be soon, i wish for both of us and millions of others there is soon, i posted the basic same response to someone else, Good Luck
