Question:

I have Dish Network with DVR. My timers seem to be off sync with programming?

It's weird. I have timers on a few different channels. One is comedy central, and this happens regularly when I record the standup comics.

First I can explain that when you schedule the timer you can buffer your record times at the start and end of a show, so that your timer doesn't cut off part of the show. I have all my timers to record 2 minutes each of the previous and next show so I get all of my target recording and when that led to cutoffs I changed it to get more.

Well, on the comedy central presents episodes, I get about 7 minutes of the previous guy's act, the WHOLE show I wanted, and about 5 minutes of the next thing.

It's like it still records everything but it's all off kilter like the clock is wrong, and sometimes it even seems squished in there.

Why do I need so much time? Isn't the dish and the channel synchronized with some atomic clock out there someplace? Is there any way to fine tune it myself?

  1. Hit the DVR button three times

    Find the timer(s)

Click on them and hit options

Edit the start and end times

Its because someone hit the "Set as system default" option which sets all timers to record that way.
