  1. contact estate agents and letting agents. be prepared to pay a hefty deposit - usually a months rent - but most landlords not keen on large family occupation. must have banking details, utility bills and passport(s) for i.d. purposes.

  2. contact estate agents. www.rightmove.co.uk is a good place to start. You have a big family, I would come over first and try and set everything up before you bring your kids in.

  3. Hi,

Depending where you are coming from - things can be slightly more difficult to organise than back home.  A few peices of advice:

Any future landlord will require bank account details.  Bank accounts can be slightly harder to set up.  You will need a letter from an employer and a reference from your bank at home to set one up.  Alternatively you may find your bank at home may be affiliated with a bank over here and may be able to set one up for you before you go.  Either that or visit HSBC in your home country - they are quite good for that apparenlty (I dont bank with them but a lot of my friends went down this route)

Your future landlord will also be wanting proof of a job or income.  Do you have a job to come to?

A really good place to get advice is www.tntmagazine.com - which is an online version of a magazine we get here.  They have heaps of good advice for new arrivals.  Cant remember cause I always skip that bit now but i think they might call the pages "getting started" or something of the like.
