I had Sony TRV75 model and have few memories in Hi8 video tapes. Unfortunately I lost the camcorder. I bough the newer model which records in Di8 format. But this does not playback my old Hi8. Please advise and help..

  1. when sony first brought out digital 8, they made it compatible with Hi8 for playback to keep their former Hi8 users from buying into miniDV. however when digital 8 flopped, it dropped the Hi8 playback capability in order to lower the price point. so now you have obsolete tapes and camera that works on a b*****d format, supported nowhere in the world outside of sony.  suggest you find a photo shop that can put the Hi8 content on DVD for you, and move on to miniDV.

  2. probably not a good idea. one is 'digital' whereas the other is analog.try and find your old cam on ebay and transfer to a mini dv camera or something similar.
