I have Hitachi dxdz 5020a. I can read the mini dv's on my computer; is there an editing software to use?

I can read the minidv's and copy them onto my hard drive, but ms movie maker and roxio won't edit these movies. Do you know of any that will work??

I can't find any reference to a Hitachi dxdz 5020a.  Are you sure that's correct?  Are you sure it's a MiniDV camcorder - WMM can't edit mini-DVDs, but shouldn't have any problem with MiniDV.
