I have JC Penney vertical blinds and need to adjust them. Please help.?

Ok, they are traditional blinds that attach with a little plastic piece at the top. The little plastic pieces have rotated so that the blinds don't all go in the same direction. Kind of like this.... / / / / / \ / / / | | | | . I think you get the point. Anyway, I have tried rotating the little plastic piece at the top, but one of them has already broken off. Is there a technique that you must do so that these little plastic pieces can be rotated without breaking them? I have tried pushing up, pulling down, etc. Thanks

Mine get out of wack like that all the time.  I just grab the plastic piece at the top and twist it back to the proper position.  None of them have broken yet and I have been doing it to four blinds for five years or so.
