  1. I was picked for a case right before Christmas and it was great because it lasted about a week.I got a week off of work with pay.

  2. This is kind of a synopsis of my experiences:  At first, it is like a herd of cattle being rustled into a big room with chairs - everyone signs in and those with excuses are interviewed by the jury coordinator and released if their lies and excuses are acceptable. You are asked to sit in numbered seats in sections.  If your section might be called to a serious crime or a high dollar civil case, you might have to complete an interview questionnaire of several pages - the attorneys review your answers to decide if you meet their specs for a jury member.  Meanwhile you sit in this big room with lots of other people and read - be sure to take some reading material, crossword puzzles, etc.  Then they start calling names for a certain court - like perhaps 20 people - if you are called, you are told when to report for court, usually the next day or so.  If not selected , you still sit in a big room with lots of people and wait for your name to be called.  They give you a few breaks during the day and about a 2 hour lunch and you return and sit in the big room for the rest of the day.  If your name is called, you are usually out of there once you find your court assignment.  If your name is not called, after all the courts are assigned people, you go to the cashier, they give you your measly pay, it was $12 for me, and you go home. It isn't anything difficult, just a lot of waiting if you are not called right away.  The worst part is yet to come if you are selected for a long involved trial.  Good Luck!

  3. Great! You may have a golden opportunity to put a democrat in prison.

  4. Long and tiring!!! Pay sucks.

  5. Let me ask others this..would you prefer something else besides a jury to judge a case involving you and yours?

It can be long and boring, but when I was called I put as much of myself into it as I would hope someone else would do for me.

  6. i have had it several times,it involves a lot of sitting and waiting through a bunch of legal procedure. you may get lucky and be dismissed early for some reason but don`t count on that happening. what has helped me in the past is to know the person on trial, lawyers will not pick you for the jury if you know them. and because of my job and this being a small town i know a lot of people. also if you have conflicting feelings about the case that would keep you from making a fair decision.i have used this before.if you do get picked try to look like you are paying attention even if you zone out for a few minutes, and try not to fall asleep.
