It is so annoying! I wash my hands everytime i touch something, i think that everything is unclean. Specially after guys goes to the bathroom and dont wash their hands, an then they touch something. I hate this so much. I cant even hold my cat anymore cause "unclean" people have touched him. Its been like this for 5 years. How do i stop this?

I dont want to see a doctor, i wnet to one a few months ago but it didnt help at all. What should i do? i have anxiety because of it and im getting really sick and tired of my life now, it feels like i cant enjoy my life anymore.

  1. Act as if to become as if"

Just act like it doesn't bother you.  Gradually expose yourself to "unclean" objects to see if they feel any different when they are dirty and train yourself not to care.

  2. You need to look into Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) This is a process when you and a professional talk everything over but more in depth and is also found to helpful with anxiety too. I wish you the best of luck!

  3. OCD needs to be treated if interferes with a person's life.  You do not necessarily have to go to a doctor you can go for behavior therapy.

  4. I know you don't want to see a doctor, I didn't want to either, but trust me it helps if they can refer you to a councellor and teach you cognitive behavioural therapy. It helped me loads.

  5. Just think of something to be "dirt" for some reason that helped me. I had that but i eventually grew out of it and went to OCD in a different way. I always thought everything was poisonous and my hands were always all chapped. It really sucks and no one understands.
