I got it when I was about 13yrs old, and was told that It will go away after I stop growing. Could it be that I am still growing? It hurts after every exercise. BTW I am a football(soccer) ref. Any suggestions please!!!!

  1. I don't have any great suggestions about it, but I've had Osgood Schlatter since I was 10, and I'm 17 now, so I'm in kind of the same boat.

Does it hurt anymore for you? Mine has stopped hurting (for the most part) and now I'm just left with that annoying bump.

If it's not hurting, it might just be that the bone buildup is still there, but condition/disease has gone.

I've read that you can have the bump surgically removed, but also that eventually it'll go away on its own.

Seeing as how it's not doing that for you, you should consult a doctor about it, and see what they think.

I play soccer, and sometimes I'll have faint pain in the joint/bump, but it's usually quite good. You should take some time off from reffing and excersizing, and see how that works. Icing it, compressing it, and elevating it after you're active can also help, so maybe follow R.I.C.E. for a month or so, and see how it works out.

I think I may have stopped growing, but it's still here too. Hopefully it goes away on its own for both of us soon.
