I am suffering from PTSD, due to a significan number of events in my life. Im stressed when Im not supposed to be. I behave differently than I should, and it effects both life at home and at work. I have tried anti-depressents and various other methods such as couseling and sleep aids, but I still suffer now, if not more than before. I used marijuana medicinally, aprooved by a physician ( I have my card ) .... but I stopped because I thought that it may have been causing my problem....but the problems came before the marijuana. The effects of other medications are a major concern to me, and I was close to suicide once after discontinueing the use of other medications....marijuana has never had a negitive side effect for me other than being a little lazy sometimes....

Should I continue use lightly, as a medication, for its porpose? How do I talk to my family about the medical benifits of marijuana?

  1. Marijuana Impairs Memory and Helps PTSD Patients

Marijuana makes rats’ neurons fire out-of synch and impairs their memories, says a new study published in the December issue of Nature Neuorscience. I would imagine that anybody who had his or her head restrained, while anything was injected intraveno usly in their brain, might also be “wandering in a daze under its influence.”

That aside, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence that marijuana’s ability to impair memory actually helps. For example, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) patients “forget” their frightening memories through the use of marijuana and obtain tremendous relief. However, how marijuana does that has yet to be discovered.

  2. If it feels right for you, and you make sure that you don't get negative effects from it in your life, then it could be a good medicine.

I must say that personally I think that with PTSD, it's the best if you get some therapy to get rid of the symptoms. Nevertheless, you have tried, and though I think you may have tried it with the wrong people, maybe it just doesn't work for you.

Marijuana works on many different ways, depending on how you use it, what you are using it for, etcetera. If you find a way to use it in balance with your life, and you only benefit from it, then go ahead!
