I have Sony Handycam model no. Sony DCR TRV 285e. Can it be connected to Zenith PC via I LINK (firewire)?

I have a Sony DCR TRV 285e handycam and I make VCDs by connecting it to my PC via USB 1.1 I read in its manual that it can be connected via I LINK (firewire) to a Sony Vaio but I wanted to know can I install a Firewire card in my PC and make DVDs? Will that work or not?

If your PC does not have a firewire port, then you need a firewire card for your PC. You need to contact Zenith to find out what kind of card your PC takes. There is no way to transfer video from the tape of your camcorder via USB. It is only for streaming video ala webcam or transferring photos from the memory stick. So you need a firewire or iLink cable, video capture software, and DVD burning software, and a DVD burner. Good luck!!
