  1. Never heard of that before i have vista and AVG and its never done that to me,

Did you uninstall the avast from programs not just delete it.

Have you checked your CPU usage on the machine.

It could be a ram problem as well.one answer said to run it in safe mood when scanning you cant run a virus scan in safe mood as it does not install all drivers when in safe mood

  2. It very well could be. The best way to get around this is to run a "Boot Time Scan" with Avast. When you first install Avast!, it will prompt you to run a boot time scan upon next restart. Just say yes. If you want to try something a little easier first. Try booting into safe mode.

Restart the PC and when the Splash screen comes up, push F8 repeatedly. Then select the option for "Safe mode without Networking" Then run your scan when the OS boots into safe mode.

  3. Best to scan in safe mode

Start scanning with AVG and click on ..additional scan settings ..in view..uncheck shut down computer after scanning

  4. uninstall AVG and install another antivirus.

    That should do the trick

  5. one possibility is that when you do a full scan is your laptop overheats

When you do a full scan the CPU is used much more as is the hard drive this causes quite a bit of heat

Make sure you have it on a table and raise the base so more air can get to the fans

    and what he says below

  6. both systems are compatible, so it would appear the problem is obviously with the laptop itself.

  7. When you installed AVG, did you completely un-install avast or vice versa?
