I called Vonage, was on the phone for an hour on two calls, I talked to 2 stupid people who couldn't help me. I want to talk to the Indian guys again--they were hard to understand but at least they fixed my problem when I first installed two years ago.

Any suggestions on what to do if all is connected correctly? Help!!

  1. This sounds more like an ISP service problem rather than a Vonage problem.

If you say everything with Vonage worked fine before switching ISP's, and now your PC can't get online, then it certainly sounds like you have "Internet connection" problems.

Vonage requires a good Internet connection in order to function.

If you say "all connections are correct", then (assuming hardware has not died in the interim) turn off power to All adapters (Modem, Router, ATA phone adapter) for 10 seconds and then "reapply power".  This is to try and reacquire an IP address from DHCP servers.

It is possible your Modem is not getting an IP address - in which case nothing will work - not the PC - not VoIP phone - nothing over Internet will work without your modem/router getting a valid IP address from ISP service provider.

If these suggestions don't resolve problem, then it is up to your new ISP to verify for you that your Internet connection is working properly.

If Internet is OK, then it becomes a hardware issue.

Does the modem belong to the ISP or Vonage?

Whoever supplied the modem is responsible to help you resolve modem issues.

Who supplied the the Router/ATA?  I presume Vonage, in which case if modem is ok, then Vonage has to help you resolve phone issues.

(All that said, we all know good cusomer service now days... is a myth...)

  2. Vonage sucks, and their customer service SUCKS worse! Dump them and get a different service and things will work.

OK I'm better now, call your ISP provider to get the Internet working not Vonage they are just a VOIP phone service and have nothing to do with the ISP, so call your cable or phone company, who ever is your ISP co. and get an American to get you up and running.

  3. the best thing you could do is to ring these people again and give them an ultimatum either they fix the problem or you will seek legal advice over the matter, you are paying for the connection so it is there responsabilty to rectify the problem.

    good luck
