I have Water Polo practice tomorrow and am getting cramps quite often. What should I eat or do to avoid them?

I'm getting cramps in my calves, triceps, and upper leg muscles.

  1. Make sure you are stretching both before you get in the water and after you get out.  Cooling up and warming down properly reduces the risks of cramps a lot.  

    As for what to eat bananas are good because they contain a lot of potassium and oddly enough potatoe skins contain a lot of potassium (don't think french fries count!), orange juice also contains quite a bit.  Cramps will happen during practice but hopefully by stretching and eating right you can avoid some of the horrible ones.
