I have Windows Vista Home edition, I forgot my password and cannot get past the first screen what do I do?

I did not steal it! I am old and forgetfull! My grandkids always do that stuff for me but they are away for the summer. But I lost power due to a drunk driver hitting a power poll and now that it is back on I need a password to get it back on again!

take it to the computer shop

Launch it in safe mode.

If you have the Vista CD. Then boot the computer from cd rom. And repair the computer.
