  1. if the game comes on a DVD and your computer on has a CD rom drive then you will not be able to play it.

Put the disk in, open my computer, double click on the CD rom drive.  This should launch the auto install. Install the game, then play.

Where are you running into trouble?  What error messages are you getting?

  2. I may be off here, but are you relying on the Auto-Start feature? Try going to My Computer and clicking on your DVD/CD drive to start the game. If no CD's/DVDs play when in your drive, it may be possible that you have drivers you need to install, especially if you installed Vista, and it did not come with your pc.

If the game is DVD-ROM, and you only have a CD drive, then you would need to actually get a DVD reader installed - an actual part which would need to be added to your machine or attached by USB. The attachable version would probably be best for a laptop, and can be found at most computer/electronic stores.

  3. i'm pretty sure there's a patch you need to download to be able to play the sims 2 on XP so you should visit http://thesims2.ea.com/update/index.php and use the one for the version that you have :D

  4. Could be your PC does not have enough virtual memory. You may need a bigger graphics card to play the game.

  5. Go To Start:My Computer and it will show up saying The Sims 2 Double Deluxe. Or, you might not have enough RAM on your computer to run the software.

    EDIT:

Is the DVD scratched majorly? This might be the problem because it would prevent it from loading at all. Or, your disk drive might me damaged. If none of these are the problems, you may not have a DVD player software installed to make it play. Also, what is your operating system? If it is not Windows or Mac, you cannot use the game.

  6. is the game on a dvd and if so do you have a dvd drive?

  7. Is your computer having a DVD-ROM drive? If the driver isn't DVD-ROM, you can't actually read it.
