  1. Generally speaking guitar amps have way too much distortion and not nearly enough power for sub-woofer use. 50 watts at 10% t.h.d. is pretty loud for guitar and will sound fairly good. However, for a sub-woofer I&#039;d want something more like 100 watts at 0.2% t.h.d. for a small sub-woofer.

    Remember power is not what blows speakers, distortion does. Guitar speakers are designed to work with very heavy distortion, sub-woofers are not.
