I have a 01 Ford Focus and my ignition is stuck in the ON position, and I can't get the key to turnover. ?

It's like I pulled the key out while it was in the ON position. The steering wheel is lock and the key won't budge. Can I call a locksmith or should I take it to the shop?

Is this car an automatic ? Sounds like it just caught in between gears , or the steering wheel is turned too far left or right. The car has a mechanism in the steering that keeps the car traveling straight. When you turn left or right, it will pull the wheel back to center. This pressure will cause the steering wheel lock to feel stuck. Put the key back in and turn it to on. Then  turn the wheel further left or right to free up the wheel lock while moving the shift lever.
