  1. Check the wires, especially at the terminals. You may have a bad or loose connection. Many times it is due to negative cable being loose and other times it is because of crud on the positive. Get one of those $1 battery terminal cleaners and get into the metal so you get good contact. Next could be a bad connection to the starter. They usually just don't fail entirely. It isn't your altenator if your battery is good. You may also have a short or blown fuse on your postitive cable - some models have a fuse.

  2. could be starter-neutral safety switch-bad connection from battery cables blown main fuse to starter relay, mispositioned ignition switch, bad connection at ignition switch at column etc. . take to mechanic

  3. If all you hear is a click when you start the car, your starter is not working. If you hear a car attempting to start, but just can't get enough juice, that's your battery.

If you battery were dead, you could bump start it if you have a manual, but you still need a starter to get the spark going.

Your cap and rotor might be overdue for replacement. When's the last time you replaced them? Usually sparkplugs won't prevent you from starting the car, but if they are fouled enough they could be the culprit as well.

  4. bring whole car to autozone for them to test your whole charging system for FREE

  5. You haven't supplied enough info.

    Is it cranking normally?

  6. If it has a standard transmission you can have your car pushed and let the clutch out with the ignition on. If you've checked your battery cables on both ends for clean dry and tight and still does not start it definitely sounds as if the starter is the problem.

DO NOT buy a replacement from Nissan. It will cost a $500.00 bill. Call around as many auto parts stores as possible for pricing. Shoot for something with a lifetime warranty. Better yet if you see an AC-Delco dealer or destributorship in your area they'll have a genuine AC-Delco starter which does have a lifetime warranty. Inside every re-manufactured AC-Delco starter has all new parts. The only part that is re-used is the outer aluminum frame.
