Question:

I have a 1.8 Ghz celeron and is staying at 160-200 F can someone please help me cool it down?

has plenty of thermal grease the computer has a processor fan. a fan on my 512 meg geforce 8400, a fan to blow air out of computer, and a fan in the power supply

is 160- 200 degrees normal? computer didnt used to sound overheat alarm but last couple of months it has

(and by the way it is a custom built computer)

  1. 200 degrees Fahrenheit = 93.3 Celsius <- Way too hot.

    160 degrees Fahrenheit = 71.1 Celsius <- A bit too hot.

    All the computer's I've worked with never went above 65 Degrees Celsius so I believe that is very hot for a computer. Try replacing the CPU Fan or adjusting the speeds on your CPU fan as well as the Graphics Card fan (Put them on max speed). Although you stated your processor has a lot of thermal paste, make sure its not some cheap brand of thermal paste. Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound is the most recommended thermal paste (many reviews stating it dropped their temps around 10 degrees Celsius).
