  1. It isn't unusual for that to happen but as long as your cat is getting enough water then it won't really do it any harm.

  2. Mine is the same. It is OK. In fact an advantage as dried food is more convenient

My cat also will not drink clean water I provide but drinks dirty water outside. She also wont drink milk. Cats are strange

  3. I have a cat who is the same way.  I would give her can food and she would sniff it turn up her nose and walk away.  When she had her kittens and I would mix dry and wet together (the loaf kind) with a little warm water to help the kittens get used to food she ate it right up. Her last litter of kittens was almost two years ago and I still feed the wet/dry combo.  So maybe give it a try.  My other cats will only eat the loaf kind of canned food and if I give them the sliced, diced or whatever they only l**k off the gravy stuff and won't eat the rest. They seemed to be picky about texture.  Good Luck!!

  4. My cat only eats dry food, she won't even eat tuna. She's weird :)

  5. SOME CATS JUST PREFER DRY FOOD. ITS ALL MINE WOULD EAT. ANY WAY I THINK ITS BETTER FOR THEM, SOMETIMES IT CAN UPSET THEIR STOMACHS

  6. My cat is exactly the same. Don't worry, mine also eats pigeons.

  7. Dry food is okay as long as she drinks plenty of water.  I had to stop giving my cat dry food due to problems with her kidneys.  She took a really bad urine infection.  Cats are funny with water a lot of them will not drink if their whiskers get wet so when you give her water fill the bowl so that she can drink without getting her  whiskers wet.  I now only give her wet food and add a little water to every meal.

  8. as long as the dry food is of good quality, like iams or hills then you're ok, its when you buy the shop standard ones from the supermarket that it can cause harm. mine have never eaten wet food, they have grown up on iams and currently eat hills 'natures best'. they are in good health. tuna is ok, but make sure its in spring water rather than brine

  9. Tuna is actually not very good for cats - http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?ac...

Try better canned foods - Weruva, Tiki Cat, Merricks, Innova, Canidae.  Even Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys canned is pretty good.  Cats do need canned food in their diet - http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?ac...

Also important is what sort of dry food are you feeding your cat?  Grocery store/WalMart foods that are made mostly of corn are horrible for cats.  Cats are carnivores and need food with MEAT as the main ingredient and little or no grain.  Good brands include Innova Evo, Petcurean, Felidae, Nutro and Wellness.  Here's a good article on selecting a healthy food http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?ac...

  10. Tuna isn't bad for her.  Just don't give her too much each day.  You may even want to space it out and give it to her as a treat every once in a while.  Maybe give her a spoonful as a treat.  The reason is tuna, like all fish, has some traces of mercury in it.

Here is an interesting article on mercury in tuna and what you should feed your cat.

As for whether or not cats will eat wet food, have you tried different types of wet food?  You may have to buy the fancy gourmet stuff with actual chunks of meat in it to get her to eat.  Maybe she doesn't like the pureed food.

  11. Actually, from what I've heard, it's better for cats to eat more wet food than dry. Maybe she doesn't like the wet food you're giving her? Try looking for ones that have real meats in the top 5 ingredients.

  12. dried food is fine for your cat, you could maybe add some gravy to the dried food if you want to make it less dry. Tuna is also fine for your cat

  13. Some cats just prefer dry.  My boy won't eat anything but dry cat food with a flat round shape and  Lucky Charms marshmallows.  I've offered him canned, tuna, even Thanksgiving turkey and raw hamburger... he won't touch any of it.  He also won't eat dry food that isn't the right shape.  If it's shaped like little balls, triangles, donuts or crosses... he won't eat it.  Cats can be weird like that.

  14. It is no problem.  I have 2 cats, and they have been eating dry food for 3 years! They are 4 years old right now.  You should just not try to get them to eat soft food, because there most likely is a reason, like it hurts there tummy, or it just tastes bad.  I would just stop giving it to her, because it might hurt there tummy just eating the jelly like part!  Hope it helps!!
