  1. Figure and hour each way back and forth to the city center plus 2 hours to get back into the airport and clear security (and the crowds) and you still have a nice 6 hour block of time to work with.

Just take the RER B line from the station at the airport and get off at the St. Michel stop. You'll come out of the station and see Notre Dame right in front of you on the Ile de la Cite. A stroll across the short bridge and you're there. Check out Notre Dame (its a working church and admission is free.

Then walk away from the front of the church, remaining on the Ile de la cite, untill you reach the west end of the island (its only a 10-15 minute walk). You'll see a little park down a long flight of stone steps. This is the Parc du Vert Galant where Jacques DeMolay, Grand Master of the Knights Templar was burnt at the stake.

Facing west you'll see a dock to your right where you can catch a tour boat ride up the Seine and back.

When you get back from the boat ride drop into the Tavern Henri IV which you'll see just across the street from the park.  Have a glass of wine and a little snack. they have nice quiches and other light fare.

If you have time cross the river back in the direction of the RER station and stroll along the river checking out the famous booksellers who operate along the quai.

  2. Hi,

Get the train "RER B" from Airport. It's about 50minutes to reach the city center. Get off at "Saint-Michel Notre Dame" station. You will be in the heart of historic district of Paris (but very lively!).

    This page : http://www.paris-city-guide.com/half-day...

gives you a walk you can do from this station. I think you can do it in 3 hours, which leaves you enough time to go back to the aiport.

You will see the amazing "Notre Dame" Cathedrale, The island "Saint Louis", the Seine River banks, school quarter, castle and Luxembourg gardens. Enjoy :)

  3. I think Rillane made an excellent suggestion.  If you do that - perhaps you could locate the latin quarter and have a nice meal.  It is not far from Ile de la cite.

Paris has many things to offer - just like New York, LA, London or Singapore.  For an overview of everything you could do a bus tour.  Or maybe a river tour along the Seine.

Or you could pick one thing that appeals to you and do that.  (Don't even think about trying to "see" all of Paris in one day - it just won't happen.)  If you really like museums, then pick one and go to it.  Something like just the Louvre or the Musee D'Orsay could easily take you a full day.  Or if Shopping is what you want - go to Champs Elysees or some other shopping district.  If you like artists - go to Mt. Parnasse.  Spend the day walking around, check out the Cathedral and maybe get a meal before heading back to the airport.
