I have a 10 year old boy who likes to speak with out thinking first.?

He recently was verbally teasing another kid in school. How do I punish him appropriately?

Show by example, treat others with respect.... Tell he must say sorry and avoid that child for a little bit. Tell him that child could have been a potential friend or buddy. Now he has to work on gaining trust .

well... you should always focus on what you want more of... especially when you are setting limits.

For example... you can say something to the effect of "that was so thoughtful when you complimented my outfit"

at the same time when he does slip and say something negative... you let him know "if you don't like something or someone you may wish that person well. You may not say hurtful things"

Spend more energy on the thoughtful things he says and does and he's more likely to increase the positive and decrease the negative.
