I have tried a normal win zip file but it comes up and says that the file is to large or some rubbish. Its a video. I need to compress the size but attempt to keep quality. I need to put it onto an external hard drive. The external says it has enough room but when i go to move it, it says that it doesn't have enough room to put it there and to run a cleanup on the drive. WHICH I HAVE TRIED!!! please help me!

  1. use winrar

  2. search the web for a movie compressor

Ashampoo movie compressor is one such and give them a try

Also try formatting your external drive as sometimes they have hidden files on them from previous use

  3. what file system is your drives formatted to?

fat32 will only allow a max of 4gigs a file

whereas ntfs is unlimited, sounds like your external is fat32

  4. Use Winrar, create a split archive.

You can split the archive into many smaller archives, and then add those archives to 4-5 archives, and then add those archives to one single archive .

This is the most effective way.

This is how to create a split archive in Winrar: http://www.win-rar.com/splitarchive.html
