  1. no you dont need to buy an amp kit all you need to get now is an 8 gauge roll of speaker wire and a set of RCA cables long enough  to run them from your stereo to the amp, and last but not least your remote wire wich walmart has too,  so you shouldn't spend more than $25 on all this ,so good luck .

  2. If you have a 1200 w rms amp? you will need a 4 ga wire to the amp, look on ebay they sell them cheap there..www.ebay.com.

  3. with amps and subs you will need the thin wire that runs from the radio to the amp that tells the amp to turn on (remote wire) and you will need a set of RCA cables that go from the radio to the amp to send the amp the audio signal

you also need power and ground wires- the power wire should have a in-line fuse installed within one foot of the battery to protect the wire and your setup and the ground wire should be no longer than 18inches and bolted to the cars chassis

here is a chart to help you pick the correct gauge/size http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-xeFZ... and as a rule i like to go one size larger in case you want to upgrade it will be more time/cost effective to have the thicker stuff installed in the first place (i would go with 4gauge)

don't be cheap when it comes to car audio because its not all built up to the same standards- with some cheap wire they include the thickness of the plastic covering the wire also and that can cause a problem if its not thick enough
