Its a AC daatpro trying to hook it up to a car stereo for home entertainment.

But problem is . Its not turning on. the stereo makes a zzzzz sound when its connected.

its either i dont have enough power ?

or i wired it wrong

i put the ground wire from the stereo to the negative (-) on the ac adaptor

and the yellow(battery) wire to the plus(+) wire on the ac adaptor.

and then theres a red. it says ACC on the wire. I also ran that through the (+) on the ac adaptor.

Does anyone know what is wrong

  1. A 600mA adaptor is not enough to run a car stereo. But it should be able to power it ON.

Try not to disconnect the Yellow (battery). Keep ACC(red) connected to (+)wire of the adaptor and GND wire to (-).

To test if the adaptor is enough to power it ON, get a DC voltmeter. While you connected that way, measure the voltage accross the adaptor. It should read 12Vdc or higher. Turn on the stereo. Observe the voltage. It should maintain 12Vdc. If it drops to say 6~8Vdc, it can't support the current needed.

  2. does your car stereo have a fuse? if so then it needs to be 1/2 amp or less to run on your adaptor. my guess the fuse is more like 5 or 10 amps. you need a power source that is rated to at least the fuse size of the car radio.
