And how accurate is underarm temperature? (I'm going to leave rectal to the professionals.)

  1. Not yet. Keep an eye on his temp. You can give him children's motrin(which lasts longer) to make fever go down and make him more comfortable. I have 5 year old twins and my son was always sick when he was small.

When he used to cough, someone told me to put vicks vapor rub on the bottom of his feet with socks on. And it worked. They emailed me a email article about it. And also doctor told me to bring him in the bathroom and put the shower on hot and the steam will help the congested cough. Also doctor told me to put a cool mist humidifier in his room. ALL these things worked for me. DON"T WORRY !! GOOD LUCK!

  2. He might be teething.  Just keep an eye on his temp. and give him some motrin it lasts longer than tylenol.

  3. at this stage you should not be too concerned, however if his temp spikes to over 103 or vomiting occurs I would contact your pedi.  Right now you should make sure you are running a humidifier to put moisture in the air and give him the appropriate dose of tylenol or motrin for any aches he may be having.  However, if it goes on for more than 5 days I would call my pedi.

  4. It doesn't sound too serious right now, but with babies you always want to be on guard. Also, the best way to get an accurate temp reading from a baby is to do the temperature taking rectally, make sure you put some vaseline on the themometer before doing it, to make it less uncomfortable for the baby. If a babies temp goes to 103 then it could become fatal in some instances. If your instinct really causes concern, take your child to the ER and have him checked out. Always better to be safe. Good Luck!!

  5. No you should not be worried with this temp.  His body is just trying to fight it on his own.  Anything over 103 you should contact his doctor.  Just make sure that he is still intaking fluids.

  6. if it keeps getting higher just give tylonol and motrin. alternate them. my baby just had a fever of 103.6 and we just road it out.probaby should have been in the er, but its done with now.  and that was taken by an axilary temp.  you have to add a degree unless its done rectally.  so really you may be upwards toward 102ish.  see if it breaks, give a warm bath and lots of liquids if possible.
