I have a 15' rockford fosgate sub and need to know what kind of amp to get?

I need to know what the best amp for a 15' rockford fosgate stage 3 punch sub. The max rms is 500 so i've been told to get double that wattage but then the guy at the store told me to get something that was just 2 ohm stable at 475 or 500 since its a 4 ohm sub

the lower the impedance (ohms), the easier (cheaper) it is to power but the lower the sound quality

so you need any amp that has about 500watts RMS @ the proper impedance (ohms) and is CEA-compliant (which means that the amp makes or exceeds its advertised RMS wattage with minimum distortion)
