  1. How well does it idle in neutral? you may need to increase you idle and advance ( timming ) just a little bit but not to much that it bangs when you shift from neutral to forward. You may want to take it to a shop so you dont get it out of whack. Also check your cables to make sure they are working properly and advacning the distributor to keep it running there are connector arms on distributor.
