I have a 10 foot Ron Australia surfboard with what looks like 1/4 inch of clear glass or gel coat on the bottom. There are numerous stress cracks that I think I should repair but what is the best method?

or can I just squeegee a new layer of finishing glass ontop to seal the cracks?

  1. If it's only stress cracks you can apply a coat of resin over it then  sand lightly with a water soaked 300+ grit sand paper.  If you notice any discoloration in the area then the damage may be underneath, in which case I recommend getting it professionally repaired - I'd recommend The Board Lady (if you live anywhere near CA).  She is one of THE best in the business,

  2. you need to take it to a professional surf board maker who can do fiber glass, if i were you i wouldn't be using that board because it's a collectors item now....my dad has a surfboard from the sixties worth over $20,000 and he had no idea untill he took it in to get an ankle strap attatched to it
