Try yahoo groups under model trains and there will probably be one of the groups there that can give you more info  I am an N scale train collector  ( the small model trains ) so I don't really know but the train clubs on yahoo have so much info they will definitely be able to help you

lol, sorry to laugh at you.  I don't think Alternative Fuel Vehicles was really intended to include electric train sets.

If you can find some markings it would help, like a serial number or something.  I suggest asking someone who works at JCPenny if they have any records for that train set.  If that doesn't work I would suggest browsing the Net for a person or organization which deals in collectible and/or antique toys.
