I have a 1972 MFG Gypsy and it is a great project. How exactly should I make it a fishing machine?

  1. You don't state the length

    But being an open bowed tri-hull

    I would remove the bow seats

    "deck" the bow area with 3/4 marine plywood that has been fiber-glassed

    install carpet mount a pedestal seat

    (you now have storage underneath the bow)

    and a transom bracket for a 9.9 kicker motor

    30 lb 24v trolling motor up front

    remove the rear seats add a live well and a bait table

    if you don't have one get a bimini top or campertop


  2. My suggestion would be to just put in the boat what you need for the day, go fishing and enjoy the day, I wouldn't mess with rod holders because they will only get used sometime maybe.

    when you first load the boat chances are you will load it the same way every time so make sure things are were they should be, cooler out of the way and tackle box handy, poles should be separated so they wont get tangled.
