  1. I know this isn't your question but I'll share it anyway, just in case it makes a difference - couple reasons for not using automotive components on boat motors:

    1.  Boat motor components are invariably "shielded" to avoid throwing sparks, because engine compartments are typically in close proximity to fuel tanks, and

    b.  Marine engine components are (hopefully) made a bit beefier to withstand the harsher environment, more shock and vibration, moisture, corrosive atmosphere, etc.  At least, they're usually priced as if they are.

Dontcha hate when you ask "how do I" and the answer comes back "Don't"?

  2. Yes it will fit, BUT because there is no "vacuum" system the spark advance won't work.  That's why marine dist. uses a centrifugal advance mech.   There are a lot of these laying around in marine repair shops.  See if you can find one, the parts, points and caps etc are available.

  3. I agree completly with jttexas.  Boats arent open on the bottom like your car engine.  In a car any dripping fluid or oil falls onto the road.  In a boat it all collects in the bilge and forms a potentially explosive mixture.  Marine electronics are shielded to prevent you from blowing yourself up!
