The coin is worth only face value. The outline of Michigan was added after the coin left the mint and as such is only a novelty item. It is still an interesting conversation piece.

Engraving cents became a big thing in the 1960's and has continued through till today but a little less now. The hey days were the 1960's-1980's. There is a set of cents out there someplace with all the state outlines on them. Don't forget the Lincoln with the John Kennedy engraved on it as well as Lincoln smoking a pipe. people come up with all kinds of schemes to make an extra buck. they sell for a dollar or so.
