I have a 1977 ford 250 and my transmission inter cooler is leaking ?

Should I replace it or just bypass it

  1. I assume your talking about the trans cooler inside the radiator. You can take the radiator to a radiator shop and have the tank replaced. Buy new a new radiator or a good used one. Or you could bypass it by put a external cooler in front of the radiator. But not a good idea not to have some kind of cooler on the trans.


  2. Best to replace the radiator if your tranny lines run to the bottom of the radiator or take the radiator to a radiator shop and let them look at it to see if it can be fixed, if it's an old radiator I would just replace it.

  3. If you have an innercooler you have a turbo, that means a part spinning at up to 75,000 rpm will be left with hot oil or no oil, hmmmmmm, up to you but I've seen what happens to an engine that scatters a turbo, the engine becomes a boat anchor in seconds.
