  2. For oil I would use any good 20-40 or 20-50 or 10-40.  Unless you're riding in extremely hot or cold conditions, multi-grade oils are pretty much the same.

For parts, well that will be hard for a 20-year-old bike.  Watch EBay, lots of parts show up there.  Look at Craigslist, but go to the listing of -all- Craigslists, not just your local one.  If you have a motorcycle salvage operation in your neighborhood you might see if they are hooked up to some kind of computerized used-parts clearing house.

  3. Had one, loved that bike!!!!

My buddy has it now, and has for about 10 years...he dropped it about 3 years ago and got body parts for it from a place called "airtech", not sure what there site address is you'll have to browse for it. I know Airtech bodies are much less expensive than OEM anyway, as far as oil goes... go to any yamaha dealer and buy Yamalube...they put a lot of money into designing that oil to increase the life of that motor and the clutches.

The FZ is just and early model FZR 600...  and as far as I know the bodies from 86- about 1988 are interchangable because that was the deltabox one frame... not sure but I think you might even get away with them all the way to 1992 because I think that was also the deltabox 1 frame....you would have to take everything..mounting barckets, headlights and all.

But I am going to say Airtech is your best bet... they make a SWEET R1 conversion kit for FZR's... not sure if it will fit your 1986 but I would definately call and ask.
