I have a 1988 yamaha blaster, it wont kick start but it pop starts sometimes?

iff i let it sit for a week and try to kick start it it starts and dies like 10 sec later

  1. it sound like it could be one of two things.   the first thing i would try is to get the carb professionally cleaned i could be a stuck float or a cloged port.    if thats doesnt fix it i could be blown rings.   try that i might fix your problem


  2. Give it a full Tune-up !- New plug, fuel filter, check contact end of ignition wire, CLEAN and/or REBUILD your carb.( most likely CHEAP culprit) Do a wet AND dry comp. check (most likely HIGH $$ culprit)

  3. get a hotter plug and run high octain gas only you might need a lead sub your valvues ant seating i had that befor in a 79 750 yamaha and its still going strong
