I have a 1990 ford escort?

I have a 1990 ford escort, 2 door:blue. It needs inspected, new battery, new tires and somewhat of a cleanup. It was my grandfathers car. I wanted to know after all is fixed how do you think it'll run? Keep in mind it is 18 years old.

as long as the engine and transmission is in good shape i should last quite a while.  just keep up with the repair/maintenance and be good to it and don't beat it.  as long as you don't get a ford with a 3.8 v6 you should be ok.

have it service new plugs filters oil change know what kind of shape its in would so if it will run drive it to any shop and let them check it out and let you know what kind of shape they think its in.... only one who will be able to tell you is by looking and checking it

When is the last time you saw a 18 year old escort on the road? Their is a reason for that...... It's not a car I would trust or put any money into, the 1.9 lt is a junk engine when new, and the trans never lasted past 80k miles.
