Its a 4.3L Vortec V6. only 115,000 miles.

I need to pump the gas for it to start.

And it wont stay running unless you give it gas for about 25 secounds or so. Then it runs.

And when im driving, when i take my foot off the gas, the car decelerates rapidly. Also, when i stop at red light or a stop sign, and when i start to pull away, the car kinda lurches or bucks two or so times, then it starts to accelerate. Also a light black smoke is coming out of the exhaust. I just bought it yesterday from a friend and he said something about a vaccum leak?

How could i check, and where are the hoses?

Im only 17 and i dont know much about the vaccum hoses and such.

How hard are they to replace?

And what exactly am i looking for?

  1. visually look for small black hoses with cracks. you can also spray carb cleaner and if the engine smoothes out thats where the leak is. if i were you id take it to a shop and have it checked out by a professional. could be the spider injectors that are bad
