I have a 1993 Sony with only 3 outlets on the back. My Zenith DTT900 has 4 connectors. How does this work?

Outlets on the TV are 1 for audio, 1 for video and 1 VHF/UHF. Do I just leave the extra connectors hanging loose?

  1. Use a pair of RCA cables.  You can use a standard 3 colored set (Yellow, Red, White) but you'll only use the Yellow and White cables.

Connect the cables to your TV tuner, matching the colors properly.

On your TV, connect the yellow cable to the outlet labeled Video.  Connect the white cable to outlet labeled Audio.  Your TV only has mono sound, so you don't need the red cable at all.

Set your TV to use the auxilary input (this is the video/audio outlets) and you should get the picture from the tuner.  Be sure to move the coax cable from your TV's VHF/UHF outlet to the TV tuner as well.  Your TV's VHF/UHF tuner is no longer needed.  You'll use the remote that came with the Zenith to change your channels.  (It can probably also be programmed to control your TV's power and volume as well - check the manual)
