Happened twice both times at full throttle. The engine hiccups like its going to stall. I cut the engine, let it sit for a minute, started it back up to the alarm sounding. The alarm would eventually cease after about 60 seconds and the engine ran fine. How do I fix the problem???

  1. You fix the problem by stop using it and get it to a certified Yamaha service shop immediately.  Either your outboard is not getting enough oil from the oil injection system if it has one, or your impeller is going out and your engine is badly overheating.

A continuous high pitched buzzing most likely points to overheating.  That means reduce throttle and return to neutral, and shut engine off.  Do NOT turn engine back on, then signal someone for help in being towed back to the ramp or dock.

  2. Sounds like an impeller problem or your  thermostats stuck or sticking.

Both are jobs you could do, or take it to boat mechanic to get it checked out and repaired.

Look for manuals for you motor in any good marine store
