I flipped the waverunner over cranked it without the sparkplugs in it. I have it running but the problem is that I everytime I gun the engine it bogs down. I think that there might be water in the carb bowl. Does this sound right? It idles fine and runs smooth on land, but when there is resistance from the water then it bogs down. I think that when it tries to take in a lot of gas it takes in some water as well, and if it bogs down to the point to where it shuts off, then it restarts no problem. Any help would be usefull. Thanks!

  1. If you haven't drained and replaced the fluids, I would do that.  All fluids, gas, oil, etc.  I'm pretty sure its a 2 stroke, but if not make sure the crankcase oil is drained and replaced, along with any filters.

Drain the gas from the carb too, there should be a drain s***w.  Add fresh gas and all other fluids, and put some "Dry Gas" in there, also called gas line antifreeze from the auto store.  This will absorb any leftover water in the fuel system.  Last but not least, you can try taking apart the carb, but any residual water should be passed through doing the above steps.

  2. drain the motor of all gas and oil change the fuel filter and oil filter including all gas in the tank get new plugs and filters clean carbs well! then you should be find.

  3. my dirt bike does the same thing except it stays out of the water. what u should do is take the gas and oil out.then u should dump the oil and gas u had in it away. it's trash. the carb may be junk too. try not to throttle up too quicly take it steps.watch ruff waves too it could slosh the fuel around and bog the motor out. the since engine is rather old if you run it alot, when it flipped that could have been it's last run, it could have lost too much power and is now DEAD. it's not powerful enogh to propell the boat forward  so like i said try recleaning out the carb i it don't work dot again+reclean the whole engine, if i don't wok still get an expert

  4. There are no bowls on carb. It has a diaphragm. Drain all your fuel from tank and replace with fresh and new fuel filter in case water got into tank. There is also no oil in motor. Its a two stroke. Do you mix your fuel with oil, or just pump straight into tank? If you pump straight into tank then you have oil injection, so find the oil reservoir and drain and replace with fresh oil, change the filter (if you have one, follow the lines from tank to carb). This will eliminate any water in fuel system. Next make sure you run the ski a least 40 min under load (in the water) to burn off any water in your case(motor). Did it get better? If not then your going to have to get in the motor. Start with a compression check of both cylinders. Should be at least 90psi in each cylinder. The higher the better. If you need to get into motor further, try joining one of the PWC forums, we always try to help, and its easier to get multiple questions and answers.
