my problem is i dont know the type of transmission it uses, or if its lockout type, non lock up. what does it mean lockout and non lock up? i think it may be a 4L60E. i looked underneath and i can see that it has a interchangeable housing. so can you tell me what type it is.

  1. You have the 4L60E, electronic 4spd tranny. It is a lock-up type trans; meaning that the torque convertor is a locking type. What this means is that the torque convertor can 'lock' coupling the input and output side so that they spin at the same speed, so there is no slippage when locked. This nets slightly better economy and less heat when locked.
