  1. How fast do you want to go?  I would say they will recommend a 90 hp, but if you want some speed go with a 150 or so.  Best around would be a Evinrude.

  2. 100/150 hp

  3. anything between 65 and 90 hp

  4. depends where you plan to use the boat and if it is a displacement or planing boat.

  5. check the manufactures website or a dealer. newer models can take up to 200 hp. the stern must be strong enough to support the weight. i have an 18 ft. center console with a 150 hp.

  6. G.T. knows what he's talkin' about.

I have a 120 merc on my 19 footer. It scoots real well.

Look at the manufacturer's plate and it will tell you what you can run safely.

  7. Check on the transom, the plate put on there by the manufacturer should list the maximum power the boat is rated for. Going over this will cause you problems with your insurance company and possibly the local authorities.

  8. it really depends on what you want to use your boat for ?how much you want to spend and where you are likely to be taking it ,you see a motor as small as 30 hp will move your boat along if you are only going to take it on the rivers say for fishing but if you intend fishing offshore then you want to be looking at something between 115hp and 200hp as if the weather turns bad it is nice to be able to get back to shore quickly. good luck and enjoy your boat..ken
