I have a $200 budget for a new bicycle. I found a Schwinn at Meijer. Is that good brand? Any ideas?

It is a good brand but NOT a good bike. Never buy a bike at a discount store. Instead, take your budget to your local bike shop. They should have something close to your budget that will be much better.

Unfortunately, NO bike in the $200 range is intended for riding "in the woods". They just aren't built for it. Now, that isn't to say it will snap in half the first time you ride there but it DOES mean that your bike won't last very long.

So, should you choose to ride a bike like that in conditions like that don't blame it on the bike or the store that sold it to you.

It is not a good brand.  I would suggest buying a used bike with a $200 budget.

I too would suggest a good used bike on such a budget.  Your local craigs list ads are a great place to search.
