I travelled over 144 km over the weekend and all of a sudden, my engine began overheating on my way home. I have travelled farhter before ( 2 times the above-stated distance) and never had this problem.

Rested on Sunday, went to work today (Mon.) and the same thing happened.

Visited mechanic, he removed thermostat (I live in Jamaica, W.I.), and i still have problem, though it takes a slightly longer time to overheat.

I am not experiencing any brake-binding or clutch slipping, and i don't have a loose fan belt. Matter of Fact, fans seem to be working ok.

Help!

  1. I think you're mistaking your clutch with your fan clutch. Your fan clutch is a devise on your cooling fan that causes it to spin at certain rpms at all times. Your -fan clutch- (not normal driving clutch) could be going out. But chances are it's probably the impeller in your water pump. If not then you could have a clogged radiator and need it flushed or even exchanged...

DO NOT overheat your car though! It will cost you a heck of a lot more money for that problem(s) then a simple overheating problem...

    hope this helps

    Cheers!
